**JRD - STUDENT PHOTOGRAPHS** **Last Updated Date:** 05/27/2014 **Adoption Date:** 01/10/2006 **Revision History:** 01/08/2008 Individual schools may arrange, in cooperation with the school's parent organization, student council, designated student committee, or a staff committee, to take individual student and/or class group pictures.  Awarding of the photographic services shall be done after a comparison of services and prices offered by various vendors.  All contracts must be reviewed by the School Committee prior to signing. The principal, in conjunction with the parent group if applicable, will recommend a vendor to the School Committee for approval. In all instances, Form JRD-E-1 (Picture Vendor Selection Report) and Form JRD-E-2 (Picture Fundraising Financial Report) shall be completed and submitted to the Superintendent, either by the PTO/PTA or by the building principal. The pictures shall be made available for purchase by students and/or parents on a voluntary basis. The building principal or his/her designee shall be responsible for overseeing the process. Students may be required to have an individual picture taken for the cumulative file or identification purposes; however, no student shall be pressured or required to purchase photographs. The purpose of the policy is to: 1.   Enhance the safety of students through visual identification in an emergency situation. 2.   Facilitate the social, educational, and administrative activities conducted in the school. 3.   Provide a service to parents and students. 4.   Allow the profits gained from the picture-taking program to be used by the sponsoring group and authorized by the building principal.
