The following rules and regulations have been established by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health which concerns the more common communicable diseases:
Minimum period of Minimum period
Disease isolation of patient of quarantine
Chicken Pox One week from appearance No restrictions
of eruptions
German Measles No restrictions No restrictions
Measles Four days from appearance No restrictions
of rash
Mumps One week from onset of No restrictions
disease or until all swelling
has subsided, whichever is
sooner.
Whooping Cough Three weeks from beginning No restrictions
(Pertussis) of spasmodic cough
Scarlet Fever or Twenty-four hours with No restrictions
Streptococcal Sore chemotherapy as long as therapy
Throat is continued for 10 days.
One week if not on
chemotherapy.
Dog bites, no matter how minor, should be given immediate attention by the family physician and the local board of health notified, giving the following information:
1. Name, address, and age of child bitten and location of bite.
2. Name and address of the dog owner.
