*Adoption Date: January 10, 2006 Re-adoption Date: February 25, 2014 Revision History: 5/19/2022; 5/1/2025 The School Committee will provide transportation within its budget to and from school for students who meet the eligibility\criteria. In the event of specific safety hazards or the lack of sidewalks along heavily traveled highways or traffic arteries, the superintendent may, at their discretion, furnish transportation to students not meeting the eligibility criteria. The School Committee may also provide transportation to students not meeting the eligibility criteria on a fee basis. The School Committee may provide transportation for extra-curricular, field trip, and athletic activities. ELIGIBILITY FOR BUS SERVICE The School Committee will provide transportation at no cost to the following students: • Students K-6 living two miles or more from school. • Special Education students – as required in their Individual Education Plans. The School Committee will provide transportation on a fee basis to the following students: • Students 7-8 living two miles or more from school. • South Hadley High School students living two miles or more from school. Students attending approved private schools will be eligible for the same transportation rights and privileges as are provided to public school students. TWO MILE LIMIT Distances will be measured from the sidewalk or public way in front of or nearest to the homeowner's property, to the closest entrance door of the school to the homeowner's property.
