Authority for the purchase of materials, equipment, supplies and services is the responsibility of the superintendent, who may delegate such responsibility to the business administrator. The purchase of items and services requires no further School Committee approval, except when by law or School Committee policy the purchase must be put out to bid. Bid awards shall be made by the School Committee.
The school department shall comply with all aspects of state laws on procurement, including M.G.L. Chapter 30B.
Whenever possible, the school department should take advantage of state, regional, or local purchasing contracts for supplies and services.
The superintendent (or the business administrator, as his/her designee) will sign all purchase orders.
The superintendent shall issue internal procedures for the submittal of requisitions to obtain an approved purchase order.
