**BEA - REGULAR SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETINGS** **Last Updated Date:** 11/26/2013 **Adoption Date:** 01/10/2006 The South Hadley School Committee will be conducted as informally as efficient procedure permits. Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised will be the guide for "regular parliamentary procedure" in items such as order of business, motions and taking of votes. No person may address the School Committee meeting without the permission of the chairperson. Under provisions of the law, a person who persists in disorderly behavior can be removed from the meeting. The Committee can "wear the ORDER OF BUSINESS lightly"--maintaining a workable informal atmosphere, but, when the occasion requires it, fall back on more formal and ordered procedures. ADJOURNMENT TIME FOR MEETINGS The School Committee seeks to adjourn each meeting no later than 9:30 p.m. Business which is "unfinished" at that time may be placed on the agenda of the next regular or special meeting of the School Committee. This statement of desired adjournment time in no way affects the validity of formal action taken after 9:30 p.m. should the School Committee be unaware of or choose to ignore the passage of time. **Policy References:** M.G.L. 30A: 18-25
