**BBB - SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTIONS** **Last Updated Date:** 11/26/2013 **Adoption Date:** 01/10/2006 1. The South Hadley School Committee is composed of five (5) members.  2. Provision is made in state law for increasing or reducing the number of members of the School Committee.  3. The term of office is three (3) years.  4. In every year when the term of office of a School Committee member expires, the town at its annual town election shall hold an election for that office.  5. An incumbent as any other registered voter, may file for candidacy for School Committee.  6. Insofar as possible, one third (two) of the members shall be elected annually. (In South Hadley, the existing practice is a 2-2-1)  7. A School Committee member begins his/her term of office on the day after his/her election, or as soon thereafter as he/she is qualified.  8.
